Wow pretty impressive. Hits just about every mark except being free. That said it looks like a pretty good value since it includes the hosting, domain, and the editing capability. I might have to try out the free trial.

Thx

Absolutely, it doesn't take that much to "SaaSafy" an app suite to make it available via T-Suite. Its what we are doing with some insurance and financial planning groups and hopefully will branch out.

Thanks Leisl, I remember our mtg. I've been doing some speaking lately on enterprise portals and there seems to be a growing list of larger organisations ready to make the jump. Its a good trend and I hope it continues.

Trading Post has a lot of small business's that need software to upload their inventory to their “hotlists” and “powerpages” and fax or email text - a web based system would make ad creation easier and the text could be repurposed for classifieds automatically. It would also be a good “in” to bundle all their other business needs.

Thanks for a great article Michael. We met about a year ago, and I have been reading your writings since.
This needed to be said. We often find with our larger enterprise clients that the 'web guys' are still seen by the old guard as a sort of a marketing division, as opposed to the "framework for integrating people, information, and processes across organizational boundaries." So while the online people know how central they are, this is often not reflected in the organization's allocation of budget and head-space. I have seen this start to shift already with the downturn, and I think this growing recognition of the role of the portal will continue to trend in a good direction, as measurable performance becomes everything.

Thats always the challenge, Nic but in the end its an inevitable part of the landscape. I don't think sticking your head in the sand will work too much longer. For now, though, it takes patience and perserverance to keep something moving forward and break down antiquated barriers to change.

Do you think the relative closedness of a corporate community limits the openness of any social networking? Some managers and workers cannot embrace the non-hierarchical nature of social networking and may resent / fear direct feedback.
